Azithromycin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria by interfering with their protein synthesis. It is primarily used for the treatment of respiratory, enteric and genitourinary infections and may be used instead of other macrolides for some sexually transmitted and enteric infections.

Indications

Softhealth Azithromycin 500 is indicated for the following bacterial infections induced by microorganisms susceptible to azithromycin

• Acute bacterial sinusitis (adequately diagnosed)
• Acute bacterial otitis media (adequately diagnosed)
• Pharyngitis, tonsillitis
• Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (adequately diagnosed)
• Mild to moderately severe community-acquired pneumonia
• Infections of the skin and soft tissues of mild to moderate severity e.g. folliculitis, cellulitis, erysipelas
• Uncomplicated Chlamydia trachomatis urethritis and cervicitis
